Nature’s Birch. Engineered for the World!

Latvia Birch Plywood Production Base Project

SIA Topply

From Latvian Birch, Built for the World

This project is located in Latvia, one of Europe’s most important forest resource countries. It is a modern birch plywood production base jointly developed by the Chinese wood-processing group and the local log supplier Ibiza. The project combines China’s mature manufacturing experience in wood processing with Latvia’s abundant and high-quality birch forest resources, aiming to establish a high-quality birch plywood production center serving Europe and global markets.

The Chinese partner group was founded in 1986 and is one of the earliest Chinese plywood manufacturers to export products to Europe and the United States. With nearly four decades of experience in wood processing and international trade, the company has developed strong expertise in production management, product quality control, and compliance with international standards.

Latvia possesses some of Europe’s finest birch forest resources, with forest coverage exceeding 50%, making it one of the key timber supply regions in Europe. All birch logs used in this project are locally sourced and comply with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification standards. The project strictly follows the principles of sustainable forest management, ensuring that all raw materials are legal, traceable, and responsibly harvested. At the same time, the production process promotes ecological protection and efficient resource utilization, balancing economic development with environmental sustainability.

In terms of manufacturing, the factory is equipped with advanced automated plywood production equipment and intelligent production lines developed in China, covering key processes including log peeling, veneer drying, automatic veneer lay-up, hot pressing, and downstream processing. These advanced technologies significantly improve production efficiency while ensuring stable product quality and higher energy efficiency, enabling the factory to meet international standards in both environmental protection and manufacturing performance.

Once fully operational, the plant will focus on producing high-quality birch plywood products widely used in construction formwork, furniture manufacturing, packaging, interior decoration, and industrial applications. The products will primarily serve customers across Europe while also supplying global markets.

Looking ahead, the project will continue to strengthen the integration of European forest resources and Chinese manufacturing expertise, further improving technological capabilities and product quality. By promoting green manufacturing and sustainable development, the factory aims to become a competitive and modern wood-processing enterprise in the Baltic region, contributing to regional economic growth, responsible forest resource utilization, and the sustainable development of the global wood products industry.
